Even for non-mage characters, the healing spell and the transmute spell come in handy, especially when you have (high) mana regeneration. High mana regeneration combined with the healing spell can render health regeneration/life potions obsolete. With the transmute spell you can make every item into an artifact, which conserves i.e. brewing ingredients or potions for later use.
